Mainstream Renewable Power appoints US Energy Mogul, Chuck Watson to its Board
Watson to lead Mainstream's new US Advisory Board ahead of major expansion plans in North America.
Mainstream Renewable Power has announced the appointment of Chuck Watson, co-founder and former chairman of Houston-based energy company Eagle Energy Partners, as Non-Executive Board Director, where he will join existing Board members such as Sir Roy Gardner and Chairman Fintan Drury. Watson will also head up Mainstream's new US Advisory Board as the company prepares to roll out its ambitious development programme in North America.
Mr. Watson is presently a board member of EDFT – North America, the managing partner and governing body of Eagle Energy Partners, and a senior advisor to the EDF Group in North America. Prior to setting up Eagle Energy Partners, Watson was the chairman and chief executive officer of Houston-based Dynegy Inc., an asset based, integrated energy provider. He founded NGC Corp., Dynegy's predecessor, in 1985 and served as chairman and CEO until his departure in May of 2002.
In 2001, Chuck was inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame and was named "Master Entrepreneur" by Ernst & Young. He was Chairman of the 2004 Houston Super Bowl XXXVIII Host Committee and is also a minority owner of the Houston Texans NFL football team and the Houston Aeros ice hockey team.
Mainstream's Chief Executive, Dr Eddie O'Connor commented,” This is a significant milestone for us and we're delighted to have someone of Chuck's calibre on our Board. North America is a key market for us, and we're very excited that the new Obama administration will bring a new and profound impetus for renewable energy that could lead the US into an era of sustainability.”
He continued,” I believe we've got the best person to lead our US advisory board. Chuck brings decades of industry experience and a strong entrepreneurial approach, both of which are vital in ensuring we maximise the scale of potential in this vast country.”
Commenting on the appointment, Mr Watson said, “Renewable power must become a larger percentage of the energy mix in North America. Mainstream has a proven track record of successful development with a reputation for high integrity and leadership with great character.”
