Proudly South African
In South Africa, Mainstream is the most successful company in the history of the country’s renewable energy independent power producer procurement programme (REIPPPP), having been awarded over 2.1 GW to date.
Our proudly South African team has the honour of having developed and built the country’s first wind and solar farms in Round 1 of the programme.
To date, we have developed and built 850 MW (gross) of wind and solar generation assets across REIPPPP Rounds 1, 3 and 4 . That is equivalent to approximately 15% of the total renewable energy generation capacity delivered under the programme.
In 2021, Mainstream was awarded preferred bidder status in Round 5 of the programme with a total capacity of 1.27 GW across wind (824 MW) and solar (450 MW) technologies.
Mainstream also provides O&M services to its African joint venture company, Lekela Power with over 600 MW under management in South Africa across five wind farms.
