Overview

The 86 MW Alena wind farm, located in BioBio Region, forms part of the Cóndor portfolio of assets in Mainstream's wholly owned Andes Renovables platform.

In May 2020, the first of 18 wind turbine foundations was laid at the Alena site which – with continuing excavation works and the construction of the lifting substation – is already halfway to completion.

The Andes Renovables platform was formed following Mainstream's win in the 2016 technology-neutral electricity auction. Mainstream was the biggest winner in Chile’s taking 28% of the total allocated capacity and awarded a 20-year index-linked, US dollar denominated contract, to supply 3,366 Gigawatt Hours of firm power starting in 2021.
