Hornsea One and Two

SMart Wind, the joint venture between Mainstream and Siemens Project Ventures successfully won the exclusive rights to develop the 4 GW Hornsea zone in the UK Round 3 Crown Estate competitive programme.

Subsequently, the zone capacity increased to 6 GW. SMart Wind  sucessfully consented Hornsea One and fully developed Hornsea Two, jointly totalling 2.6 GW.

In 2015, Hornsea One, Hornsea Two and the remainder of the zone was sold to Danish utility, Ørsted.  Hornsea One is the largest operational wind farm in the world today and Hornsea Two is under construction.

SMart Wind pioneered the offshore industry with a series of cost-reducing technology innovations including the twisted jacket (pictured).
