Global wind and solar company Mainstream Renewable Power is the first developer in the industry to attain ISO27001 for its Information Security Management System. The certification recognises excellence in secure data management. By utilising 32 Microsoft technologies, Mainstream has successfully built an innovative, paperless management process in compliance with ISO27001. In 2009 the company implemented the IT Management Framework developed by the Innovation Value Institute. This in turn identified the need for Information Security Excellence. Mainstream’s Chief Executive Eddie O’Connor commented: “This is a major achievement for Mainstream and clearly reinforces our position as the leading developer of wind and solar projects globally. What’s significant about this is we’re such a highly mobile and geographically diverse company. In just over four years our team has expanded to over 150 people developing more than 15,000MW wind and solar projects from dozens offices and project locations around the world. He continued: We have turned this IS challenge into a major source of competitive advantage for our Company. Our IT Services are delivered via a Secure Private Cloud. This allows us to share information quickly, securely and reliably – not just amongst ourselves, but also with our strategic development partners. As an entrepreneurial company it allows us to make critical decisions swiftly and reliably and allows us the flexibility to scale up as our business expands into new jurisdictions.”
