Mainstream statement on Dr O’Connor’s Dublin Climate Dialogues remarks

Mainstream Renewable Power notes the inappropriate comments made by its Chairman, Dr Eddie O’Connor, at the Dublin Climate Dialogues during a panel discussion.

Dr O’Connor’s generalisations about the continent of Africa neither reflect reality nor do they, in any way, represent Mainstream’s views, values, and experience working with our local partners and communities in Africa. The remarks were personal to him and he has issued his own statement on the matter which is available here.

Mainstream has operated in Africa for over a decade, and we are deeply committed to continuing to work with our partners across the continent to urgently address the threats of climate change and the need for a just transition to renewable energy.
