Carrickeeny Wind Farm is located in County Leitrim in the North West of Ireland.

The wind farm was Mainstream’s second project in Ireland and consists of four Enercon turbines.

Mainstream took the project over at the late development stage and following construction the wind farm was sold to global furniture retailer, IKEA as a key part of its sustainability strategy to generate as much renewable energy as it consumes.

The wind farm is connected to the Irish national grid at the substation in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim via a 10km overhead line.

Annually the plant will avoid the release of 13,270 tonnes of CO2. The wind farm, purchased by IKEA Group formed part of its strategy to generate as much electricity from renewable sources as it consumes.
