APAC Vietnam

Summary of Role:

Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance APAC and based in Ho Chi Minh City, this is a key role in the legal and Vietnam project development teams who will work in conjunction with the Head of Commercial and Business Development to support the development of the Soc Trang Offshore Wind Project and the Dak Nong Solar PV Project.  This will require a commercial mind, an international outlook and an ability to work cross functionally with the Operations and Commercial teams.

What you will do?

  • Support the Head of Legal and Compliance APAC in providing Vietnam legal advice to the project development and commercial teams
  • Drafting and negotiation of contracts in both English and Vietnamese as necessary
  • Negotiation of PPA’s and other government licences and permits
  • Support the Head of Legal and Compliance APAC in ensuring that the principles and procedures set out the in Mainstream Renewable Power are followed and strengthened in Vietnam
  • Support local project development teams in their understanding of legal requirements in contracts and commercial negotiations
  • Engage with external legal service providers in Vietnam
  • Take an active role in reviewing and improving policies and procedures in Vietnam
  • Taking a lead role in ad hoc projects as required.

What we require?

  • A high calibre Vietnam qualified lawyer with 6 to 8 years’ experience in private practice and in-house primarily working for recognisable international clients
  • A law degree (preferably Masters) from a common law jurisdiction
  • Industry experience in the energy industry is preferred.
  • As well as having the above legal training and experience, the candidate must also be strong commercially.
  • Excellent written and oral language skills in both English and Vietnamese.
  • Unquestionable integrity and enthusiasm for supporting the Mainstream compliance program.
  • Detailed understanding of Vietnamese central and provincial regulatory environment.
  • Confident self-starter with the ability to act on own initiative, multi-task and meet challenging deadlines.
  • High levels of energy and motivation, with a track-record of delivery.
  • Strong organisation, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Flexibility to work on a broad range of projects.
  • Flexibility to travel. The role will be based in Ho Chi Minh City but may also require travel within Vietnam including to remote locations.
