Working within the Commercial Team and reporting to the Asset Delivery Manager the successful candidate will have two primary areas of responsibility from the outset: 1) delivering risk analysis, mitigation and risk transfer through a comprehensive insurance program for a portfolio of over 600MW of ready-to-build stage wind and solar assets as part of the commercial asset delivery and project financing processes, and 2) compiling market intelligence and reports for management on potential long-term local and international infrastructure asset owners, in preparation for later M&A activity.
This role is a capacity-building opportunity for a highly motivated candidate who is ready to take real ownership in a dynamic international company during a key asset delivery phase in Chile.
The ideal candidate will be a bilingual (Spanish and English-speaking) experienced graduate with proven commercial acumen, an enquiring, analytical mind, and excellent interpersonal skills. For recent business-school graduates looking to intern as part of a transition into the renewables sector, it will provide a unique opportunity to work on some of the most exciting transactions in the space over the next 6 months, learning from a group of dedicated commercial professionals at one of the world’s most respected pure-play renewables companies.
Term: Full-time permanent analyst role, or for the right graduate-school candidate we can consider an alternative 6 months internship. Immediate start.
- Risk Analysis and Transfer:
Work with project development teams to identify and document site and project specific risks across a portfolio of over 600MW ready-to-build wind and solar projects.
Co-ordination with Mainstream’s brokers and procurement teams to design competitive and effective insurance solutions having considered local market conditions, corporate risk exposure, and international lender requirements.
Provide support for insurance documentation as part of the project finance process with a club of international commercial banks
Policy documentation management, and co-ordination of policy handover to construction contract team
Internal stakeholder communication
- M&A Market Intelligence Lead:
Generate a database of reference transactions and related investors
Provide intelligence on potential local infrastructure investors
Prepare presentations and reports for management
Support all M&A team preparatory work including preparation of asset marketing collateral, teasers, presentations, information memorandums and other project information packs
What are we looking for?
Experienced graduate in a commercial field with a min 3 years professional experience OR Business school graduate (MBA or similar).
Experience in any of risk management, insurance, M&A/high-value asset sales, or investor research and relations is beneficial, but demonstrable related competencies will be considered.
Analytical, enquiring mind and strong commercial acumen, and attention to detail are essential.
Exceptional organisational and communication skills: this role requires significant cross-functional work.
Self starter with a strong desire to learn.
Ideally bilingual with strong verbal and written English and Spanish communication skills.
Advanced presentation preparation skills is an advantage.
Previous renewable energy experience is not a pre-requisite for this capacity-building role, but a passion for sustainable business and strong alignment with Mainstream’s mission, vision and values are critical.
