Fintan Whelan
Co-founder and Corporate Finance DirectorIn February 2008, Fintan co-founded Mainstream Renewable Power where he is Corporate Finance Director. Fintan spent eight years as Corporate Finance Manager for Airtricity, where right from the first project, he was involved in raising more than €1bn in project and corporate debt to fund the company’s development and build programme. He was responsible for designing new structures for the company’s evolving requirements, negotiated facilities in the banking and investor communities and diversified funding sources particularly for the critical area of non-government contracts. His responsibilities covered all markets in which Airtricity was active, including Europe, Offshore, the US and China.
Fintan qualified with a Commerce degree from University College Dublin in 1978, he is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) and in 1996 got an MBS in Finance from UCD’s Smurfit School. Before joining Airtricity, Fintan was Chief Accountant and later Finance Manager with Prudential’s business in Ireland and was with Ernst & Young Consulting for three years, specialising in the area of financial management and modelling in Financial Services.
