We want to help South Africa to grow a new sustainable industry. Together we can create decent jobs, stimulate rural development and bring about real skills transfer. This will ultimately result in the development of sustainable communities and businesses with long term value that will benefit all South Africans.
Our Partnership Approach
For us, it’s not just about building renewable energy plant. It’s about building enduring relationships with our partners. These partners include all levels of industry, landowners, local municipalities, turbine suppliers through to government.
In March 2010, Mainstream South Africa set up a consortium of companies to deliver the highest quality wind and solar projects as well as to create long term sustainable value for South Africa.
The consortium includes one of South Africa’s leading BEE investment management companies, Thebe Investment Corporation, rural development agency AsgiSA-EC as well as Siemens Energy Southern Africa and Absa Capital.
Developing local expertise
Together with our consortium partners we will help to develop the skills and expertise of emerging South African engineering companies. This will contribute significantly to developing local talent and addressing the shortage of engineering skills in South Africa. As these companies develop new skills, and as the renewable sector expands, they will look to expand their companies and in doing so, will create new jobs.
