Over its lifetime, total taxes earned by the Irish Exchequer on electricity generation, through employment taxes and VAT will amount to in excess of €12bn over the duration of the project.
According to most recent Department of Finance figures, this income is equivalent to 18% of the total Program of financial support provided to Ireland by EU member states and funds from the IMF.
