Opportunities for offshore

Off shore sites on the East coast of Ireland are closer to the UK than many of the off shore wind parks already under development in UK waters. This makes Irish off shore wind power attractive to the UK, since off shore wind becomes more expensive the farther from shore it gets. Energy Bridge will create the route to market for Irish off shore wind, for which there is otherwise no demand, thereby establishing a new marine power industry in Ireland. Furthermore, Ireland’s proximity to the UK, the North Sea and German waters – the largest centres for off shore wind in the world – positions us perfectly as a future manufacturing hub to supply these centres of industry.

Energy Bridge is a far-reaching future-orientated project, positioning Ireland to reap the benefits for decades to come.
