Mainstream ensures its staff and contractors always behave in a responsible manner and strive to be a dependable neighbour to the communities hosting its projects all over the world. In addition to the employment benefits and support of public services described above, we extend even more benefits to the communities who host our wind farms by contributing to the local sports clubs, voluntary projects and initiatives that local people are involved in and local schools. Dedicated community funds are paid a percentage of the income that the wind farm generates, and local groups will be invited to tender for these ongoing funds on an annual basis. These might include:
- Sports clubs and community games
- Local arts and cultural initiatives
- Community events and festivals
- Local heritage groups and projects
- Facilities and services for local people, residents groups
- Projects and initiatives that benefit the local environment
- Education and training initiatives – including schools and adult training
