The investment in and development of wind farms and subsequent support structures and services represents excellent economic stimulus in the locality of the wind farm. Over a period of more than 25 years, it spans a number of sectors from engineering, environmental, ecological and heritage,
construction, hospitality and catering, to legal, finance and other professional services. In addition to significant local income in the form of landowner rents and local authority rates, investment in the region will have further knock-on benefits to unrelated sectors as a result of day-to-day local spending by those directly employed and rental incomes directly earned over 25 years or more. This will benefit the local community at the widest possible level, provide economic stability and a more certain future for the region.
Furthermore, Mainstream is excited to engage with the whole community, and commits to contributing a percentage of generation income to local community clubs, groups and initiatives through an annual Community Fund so that the benefits of a local wind farm can be enjoyed as part of the everyday life of the community who host it.
